Love my 9' rods with small spinning reels. Have a 12' that is so unhandy to me. I do use it for trolling cranks
and like the action of it, but it is still unhandy to me. Going to get a 10' to try for vertical work. never used over
6 1/2' before the 9', just working my way up in length, slow learning curve I guess. Seems to take time to learn
and adjust to longer rods for me.

small spinning reels and power pro 12lb (2lb dia.) high-vis yellow braided line.

If you get hung and can't shake it loose, I reel as far down as I can (I've had 6+ feet of rod in the water before!) and it sometimes comes loose that way....otherwise I'm grabbing the bale to keep the drag from pulling more line and pulling STRAIGHT out, so there's no bend in the pole. Sometimes the line breaks. Sometimes the hook breaks. Most of the time the hook bends and comes loose or you pull up a tree. That line is tough!

I'm with you Joedog. I've even used the Ed Edgar patented bow and arrow move you where you submerge the entire rod to get the jig loose. He's wise in the ways of fishing.
