I jig fish year round ,fish the ledges along a bluff works good in the winter, caught fish from 8 ft to 16 ft today on the bottom fishing it sloooooooowly
I have never been an avid crappie fisherman, but id like to get into it more.
what tips do you have for some one who is just beginning.
also i've never thought about going out fishing this early in the year, but reading on here it seems that a lot of people go out as long as the lake isn't frozen. how do you catch fish this early in the year?
my specific lake would be Mozingo in Maryville. when is the earliest i can expect to have some luck? and what should i do to catch fish? (bait, depth, part of the lake?)
sorry for such a beginner question but im not a very experienced angler yet

Strahm Welcome from Smithville.
May all your live wells be full.Dave
The best advice I can give you is to be on the water as much as you can throughout the year. Keep a log and keep track of things like places, water temps, water clarity, depths, colors, clouds, sun, and of course "results". Hitch a ride with someone who knows the sport. There are several on this site who are willing to share their boat and knowledge with someone who wants to learn. Good look.
