when I fish twain at normal pool (606), my go to method for slabs is to vertical troll. first ya find a spot where the channel swings up next to a bluff with some timber, then slowly make your way down the channel edge. I like to fish 3 poles strait down, all in rod holders like spider rigging, and I cast or jiig jigs with a 4th at whatever structure or cover I may pass along the way. when they are biting really good, its hard to run more than 2 poles at once.
I just started pulling cranks at twain last summer and I must say, it worked really well around the main lake. had the most success when the lake was around 610'-615.

Great info on this thread. Now for a different twist, all the tournaments I have seen have had big fish pulled from brush in the rivers single pole jigging. Can you catch good numbers of big fish spider rigging, and what part of the year??

Actually, I remember that day quite well as I probably caught 20 dinks to every keeper that day and by dinks, I mean 7-8".......... fun to feel the thump for sure and the biguns hit just like the little ones, so you never knew.

They were stacked in that one location thicker than I have seen in quite some time!

I've never done it, but there are some guys that fish Truman that swear by spider rigging during pre-spawn to catch the big females.... For the most part, the rivers will hold the bigger fish and those fish are normally caught single poling, or that's what people say. Major plus to rigging is the amount of fish you can catch........more fish means better chances to connect with that kicker, but I don't know that it's a proven tactic for the bigger fish.

I catch some nice ones by rigging.usually catch a few 15's every year and lots from 12- 14 inches. I still haven't caught that 16 yet.... and except for the spawn, I rig most of the time. I also like to use minnows and nibbles on whatever I'm using.
