Sometimes you have to be stubborn to catch the crappie, espescially at table rock. There nothing like catching those whites one after another.
Well I am either too dumb or just stubborn to stay away from crappie fishing table rock. Put in Monday morning at bridgeport and ran upstream. Ran up the James to a proven brushpile. 11 feet of water 71 degree water. Caught about 8 crappie out of that pile with only one keeper at 11 inches. Ran down stream checking a few other places and only managed one more short. Put in Monday evening at Cape Fair boat dock and managed to catch a few more short crappie drifting minnows along the bluff. Fish were in about 20 feet of water.
Just a heads up, the white bass are surfacing at cape fair. My dad and I put 50 in the boat on Sunday evening and 22 on Monday night. Sunday we had to stop in the middle of fishing to count the fish in the well. Fun stuff, chasing boils.
So I found some crappie but nothing to brag about. They bit on a black and char tube tipped with a minnow. Or a minnow drifted slowly.
Good Luck!

There's not much thats more fun than schoolin whites.....hopefully the crappie will cooperate with the cooler weather.

Sounds like a banner day on "The Rock" after all of the reports of blanks being fired....... good job.

Nice work! What are those white bass hitting?
Some reason this year the rock has been tougher than normal to get any crappie out of. Even trolling was tough this year with only a few keepers for the effort. Lsat year the white bass fishing was good and they would hit anything white with small rooster tails and jigs with white tails worked good. I would troll a 3 way with a 1/4 oz jig on bottom line and a small rooster tail up high and would catch 2 at a time. Had 4 rods out at 1 time with this set up and caught 7 fish when I went through the school talk about a fire drill after that I went to just 2 poles.
The whites were taking small white swimming minnows and grubs. They are eating small shad right now so anything 3 inches or smaller was working well for us.
Glad to hear you had some luck on the Rock, even if most were shorts. I was planning on going this morning (Tuesday) but chickened out when I looked at the radar. If y'all want some White Bass fun, head down to the Table Rock Dam around 3:00 in the afternoon! Acres and Acres of Whites boiling in the middle of the lake across from the Branson Belle. No big 'uns, but they will wear you out! I lost count after 100 fish in just over an hour and they were still boiling!

Finally got a limit a huge Crappie on Table Rock last night. Then I woke up. Good Dream, wish it was real.
