    Question Spider Rigging

This is my first time on board. I was wanting to know about spider rigging and if it was worth trying on MT. I have the basic knowledge of how it works and how to setup a boat, but I was wondering if anyone had any preferances on type of rod holders or brand? I.E. flush mount on rails of boat or something like the black widow. The boat is a 18' bass tracker 04model

spider rigging is tough on lakes that is full of trees but it can be done if you troll open areas or areas with stumps if you keep your rigs above them. alot of the guys that fish crappie masters use tite loc or perrotti built rod holders, personally when i buy a new set it will be perrotti with a flush mount base.I trolled loz today and got a limit it seemed to be the best method today because the fish seemed to be scattered give it a shot i'm sure you'll like it.

The main thing with your set up, in my opinion, is make sure the system is high enough you don't have to keep bending down to grab a rod. I like mine where I can enjoy kick'n back and operating my trolling motor.
This only my opinion, but nothing you can say will change my mind. That makes it a FACT.

    Default Tite Lok

My friend is happy with his side mount unit from Tite Lok. I'm happy with my Floor Mounts. I believe the Perotti are better quality but a little more expensive. But non the less an excellent product.

Keep the location of bins, trolling motors and the tilt of the motor in mind when mounting the rod holders. I made the mistake of mounting a floor mount that I have to removel the 'T' and put it back in everytime a put the trolling motor in and out of the water. Pain in the butt, but so far I've been too lazy to move it. I'll relocate it when I get new carpet next month.

On a side note: If you want some good information on Spider Rigging. Jim Duckworth has a video on the subject. Jim talks a lot about nothing, but in between he has some good set up techniques. I'm not sure how much the videos are as I sat and watch one with a friend this past weekend. Maybe someone on the site has one he could lone ya for the cost of shipping.

    Hi Fishin562,

I bought a set from a guy on ebay last summer. Actually, they didn't sell, so I sent him an email. It was made from machined aluminum and has 4 powder coated rod holders. The guy sold the whole thing for $30 plus shipping. If you buy 3 - he will pay shipping. I don't have a picture, but you might can email him and get him to send you one. I just wanted to try spider rigging, but didn't want to spend alot of money, just in case I didn't like it. I am pleased with the one I have. It came with a machined base, but I think he makes different mounts as well. Here is his email address - [email protected] - Seems like he was from NC or SC, but I can't remember.
