Alright Bob. I know we just talked about them a week or so ago. I will have to go check my tree now. It may be to young of a tree but will check anyway.

In our government-controlled schools we are taught that Lincoln was our greatest president because his war ended slavery and saved the Union. As usual, the other side of the story – the side that reflects poorly on the government – somehow gets lost. – Richard J. Maybury, The Abe Lincoln Hoax

That picture shows you 3 different sizes of worms. That means at least 3 different hatchings. I found them for the first time Saturday. They were only about a 1/4" long then. Now some are over 3". They grow very fast. I'll give ya a couple dozen to salt your tree if you want? That's how I got these. A guy from Texas mailed me a couple dozen worms to salt my trees 3 yrs ago. No worms last year, but back in good numbers this summer.

You are welcome here anytime. I would think you would know that by now.

    Bob,

What kind of worms are they? What kind of tree do they use for habitat?

In Lawrence, we have had a problem with bagworms. that has me thinking - I wonder if they are any good for bait?

When I was a kid we used to use worms for fishing - but they were marine worms (bloodworms and sandworms) that used for flounder fishing.

They are Catalpa worms, Pete. I'm sure that's not the "scientific" name but it's what we Southerners call em. They are the larval stage of the Sphinx moth. They feed only on the leaves of Catalpa trees, hence the name.

OK. I have heard of them and I have heard they make great catfish bait. Hmmm, I did my graduate work on a virus that kills catfish and I worked on catfish in Mississippi. I think I will leave the catfishing to others!

Boy, those look good, Bob. I've been watching all the trees around here and the ones that always have them are real clean this year. Great channel bait. I've been spending my time trying to round up nightcrawlers.
