Seeing remarks from regulars apologizing for the tough bite reminds me that part of fishing events is the learning experience, I've learned more from tough days over the years than from good.

Bet you'd be hard pressed to find one participant that didn't learn something yesterday about their own skills, techniques, equipment, or endurance. Things that will help make them a better angler in everyday fishing whether they fish events in the future or not. I found my ole tin tub's livewell system isn't good enough with a stressed fish and 90 degree water temps in spite of a boat load of ice. And that I should have read the water condition better as we progressed higher up the Grand, because it sucks right now. We only had five after we lost one of our two largest in the well but never got close to that 7th keeper. Also I'm too much of a dead stick guy when the bite is tough and that jig movement isn't a bad thing.

On the good side we didn't loose a keeper anywhere so we can't cry over that. Got to meet some new people and reacquaint with others at weigh in. Thanks to Dave / got crappie for accepting my last minute plea to fish. And I didn't throw up over the side of the boat which thought I was gonna do all morning. Tried once but Dave warned me that chumming was against the rules. :D

Many thanks to the guys that organized this. Often said that 10% of the people do 90% of the work and this slacker appreciates the efforts of the few. And to the staff at Bucksaw for use of the facilities, that's no small deal.
