Yeah, after reading the articles in the last CM magazine, it looks like they really only get details on teams 1-3. Now I'm pretty sure that capps & coleman are going to get more run then most given that they are a household name in crappie. Congrats on the 4th place finish. You coming up here for the classic?
We sat with Larry, Vanice, her sister and sister's husband at the seminar, they are really nice people.
I will personallyt let Paul know he needs to put signs on the "secret ice chest"!
Wait know I won't, SHUT UP AND FISH!
Did'nt know it was there job to supply you with water anyway.
The seminar was so you can sign in and get your voucher. set your watch for time, and to know what time to start and stop fishing. Length limit ect........, and for you to get some great stuff with your red ticket.
Just my 2 cents, I think thier is always room for improvement, but Crappie Masters did a great job! Looking forward to the next one!

Been fishing CM for 6 years now. I really enjoy the tournaments they put on. As for not getting asked questions, hey I won Rathbun two years in a row, and I pretty sure Paul did not recognize me this year.. So is life, I look at it this way, it will make me work harder. If you haven't meet anyone worth meeting on the CM tour, you have not tried. There are jerks everywhere, but I have personaly meet some really great people. The Buntings, the Rambos, the Reedys, I could go on there are some great people. Sorry you had a bad time, maybe you should try to be constructive, give Paul an email, tell him about some of your concerns, my guess he will try.
I was not at this tourney, I have a brand new crappie fisherman at home, but I will be at the Classic, I am really hoping Paul doesn't recognize me again when I win it. Of course I am joking, well maybe not. Give it another shot, there is always room for improvement, but this is the best thing we got going right now, Crappie USA isn't what it once was, and their numbers are down. I fished CUSA for 10 years, switched to CM for better money, better turn outs. Good luck to all, as for the officials being a holes, takes one to know one I guess, lighten up a little.
Now Dunc, never said bass tournaments as in plural, if you read the post said i know of one, singular, uno that was asked not to return to a particular state. As to the tanks, should be enough so that anyone standing in line has their bag immersed the entire time they are in line, dunking one momentarily don't fix the problem for very long. Won't argue with you but if you know of tournament organizers that will tell you honestly, they will do anything to make sure there aren't fish floating after an event. That can include patrolling by boat to pick up floaters or knifing the fish so it will sink if its beyond use.
I wonder if Johnny Morris had been at the seminar and the tournament if he would think Bass Pro met the standard that he has spent a lifetime to build.....

In our government-controlled schools we are taught that Lincoln was our greatest president because his war ended slavery and saved the Union. As usual, the other side of the story – the side that reflects poorly on the government – somehow gets lost. – Richard J. Maybury, The Abe Lincoln Hoax
I haven't read all of the post yet, but wanted to capture what you said. I agree with your post. I have had the joy/pain of experiencing this 1st hand. We started a series in 2009 and have had growing pains. I do know that Crappie Masters has stepped above what was normal in the crappie tournament trails from the past. The payouts are way beyond what was previously and still to this day possible from any major tournament trail. Yes, handouts may have been less than expected. Sponsors have cut back just like every other part of the economy has cut back. 128 boats = 256 individuals and not to mention the individuals with those teams. You may have seen some banners and sponsors names but that doesn't mean that THOUSANDS of dollars were floating around. Look at the paybacks to the top 24 of the 128! Approximately 20% of the field was cash pay outs! Go fish any other tournament trail out there and see what you take home! You say you paid in $260. Why was that? Because it was your 1st tournament? $200 entry, $25 membership, $10 Big Fish, would be why you paid $260. Glad to see you didn't wait to pay a late fee too. Get to the seminar early, ask questions, talk to the anglers, and you will learn in a short period of time what these guys/gals have learned over a long career of tournament fishing. I do not like for any angler to have a bad experience at any tournament because I feel tournaments should be fun and a learning experience for everyone. The bigger the tournament, the less individuals get individual attention. Unfortunately, that is how it is, in anything. I have met many individuals that fish both major and smaller tournaments. I can't imagine asking any of them any question that wouldn't get a response that was informative but also may include a Little sarcasm. (I haven't met a crappie fisher that didn't have a little sarcasm at 20 degrees or 101 degrees Fahrenheit). Bottom line.....don't let one major tournament stop you from trying to beat the other boats in any tournament. Any angler has as good of a chance to beat the next angler on any given day. It doesn't just apply to Saturdays or Sundays and football. Get out and put your hooks in the water and put your money on the line or sit back keep your money and fish. Either way, fish.
