I've never fished Smithville but I always caught them off rocky points, flats along channel edges, or on midlake humps this time of the year. Good luck.

I went today and man was it a zoo out on the main lake. I caught 2 shorts and 1 keeper. Fished a lipless crankbait on main lake points next to the weed lines. They need to open up the gates and then the big ones will move back on the points.

Yeah , there was a boat on every point at first light this morning . I didn't catch any Walleye , but I did catch some White Bass that were schooling in the area.
