I will dust off the shotgun this spring, I plan on staying at truman the last week of turkey season. To do some hunting and fishing, hopefully the spawn will be in full swing at that time.
Where do you go on Truman Lake?

I have a camper that I leave at Eagles Nest on Hwy 7 between Tightwad and Racket. I usually put in at Longshoal if I am staying there. If not I put in at Sterrett Creek Ramp since it is the closest ramp to get to coming from Jeff City. I use to fish just around those areas but starting to move farther out less people to contend with. The farther up the lake, the less pleasure boaters are out. To many trees for those useless boats.

Guess that is why I love Bucksaw, lots of trees in the water. Crappie like trees I have heard.

You should also try the campground at Berry Bend, the area is real simular to Bucksaw. Uppper end of the lake not may boats, lots of trees and some good flats. This year the fishing seemed to be better on the osage arm than the grand.

I think we you went up there twice last year and did not do real good either time. Never read many good reports either. Did better on Bull Shoals but then I keep my boat at Pontiac Cove boat dock during the winter for free. That way I can drive the car down and save on gas. I have to have it out by mid April or early May so my dad can put his big deck boat in his dock slip.

About 125 miles to Pontiac Cove camp ground. I went to Norfork Lake last Thankgiving and want to go back when the weather in nicer. I stayed a motel that the owner is a diver and places out brushpiles and tell you where they are when you check in. He also writes fishing reports for Norfork.

We are going to a motel on BS that is near Hwy 125 campground this Thankgiving. We try and pick a different lake each year and find a nice Motel for our turkey day. If the weather is nice we fish if not we just enjoy each other. The teenager is not going to her dads this year but coming with us, this will be a first.

Do you make any of your own jigs and lures?
I started making Pony head jigs this fall for myself and a few close friends at work. I went through so many Roadrunners last Spring I had do something to save money.

I havent poured my own jigs yet. But I do buy some weedless jigs from a guy in the club. And then I paint them up. But here recently I have started taking his jigs and making my own marabou jigs.

How do you paint your ponyheads? Also are you making just the regular or weedless too?
