    Default Smithville 5/29/10

Me and a buddy went out Sat morning for a few hours. Wanted to fish some new water and test the theory that you cant catch fish with the flood gate open. Only put 6 fish in the livewell but they were good fish. 2-13" fish, 2-12" fish, 1-11" and 1-10" fish. Fished shallow and fished deep. Caught the 10 incher in 4 fow and the rest in 8'-10' fow. Couldnt find 2 in one spot and couldnt find any deep around the trees. Lost a good fish at the boat and caught about 15 dinks. Dinks mostly in the skinny water. All the bigger fish still had eggs but were all turning white. In a couple of weeks the fishing should really start picking up, especially when it gets to normal pool. Danny graduates today so the Ranger is in the driveway. Going Mon morning if the rain holds out. I have pics but still trying to figure it out, will try Tues at work.

    Cool

    Double D,
Wife and I also fished smithville saturday morning. We went up past W bridge to the left (camp branch side). There were hardly any boats up that way.
About 10 dinks and one wall hanger slab. Caught her in 10'.
Couldnt find any fish on the trees that would bite.
Had pretty good luck along the shore catching blue gills.

Ok...I must confess.......my wife caught the slab.....
Measures alittle over 14''......really nice lookin fish.....one that would be worth mounting......but its soon to be in the skillet.

Overall it was a good time on the lake. Found a shaded area along the shore line and took a short nap in the boat. Had some milk and doughnuts!
Going back to the ramp about 1:30pm I found tons of pleasure boaters had taken over the lake....what a sight to see.

Thinking about trying Blue Springs lake this evening......if the storms dont slam us. Maybee some of the pleasure boaters will be plum wore out and going home by 6 or 7....ehh:rolleyes:

Dexter I think you can catch a few with the plug pulled but I think you have to work for them. Now that being said after Lees report on walleyes it didn't seem to bother them.
May all your live wells be full.

Dex, that is EXACTLY my report from yesterday. Couldn't find them on trees, found them scattered in between slow trolling between 'em. We didn't end up with the same quality, though....all of them were over 10" but less than 11". Good eaters!

But yeah, we had to work for em. We were up north of W and around the bend. Off the water by noon-thirty.

Those 'eyes have my mouth watering, though!!

    Nice slab, Mrs.Tool!
