I agree, I think it will still be a couple of weeks before things break wide open. A guy could always go to Shell Branch or Sandy Creek but by this weekend you would be able to walk across the boats there.

Shell might not be too bad........... Sandy on the other hand, look out. Although I've seen Little Indian get that bad before as well.

That's when I run up the lake...... might take a bit more work, but I'd rather do that than fight the crowds.

U guys got me pumped about heading to Twain! My girlfriend & I headed down for weekend of May 1st! I sure hope its a better this spring at least for me, than last year. If we have anyluck going rite back the following weekend with fishn partner. I have spot for you guys to fish for me until i get there if you want too! As it's always been good early in the year! Let me know if they are there. As you head in Indian creek there's a boat ramp on the north side of island fish the 1st cove to the East of ramp. very thick cover & steeper banks than normal. Or cove before ramp heading into Indian. Good luck.

    philput,

Have no fear, I'm sure there will be only a few boats in and out of that area for the next few weeks . Your timing looks pretty good!

The COE had a meeting tonight at Harbor town about keeping the lake at a level this spring for the shad to spawn. Did any body go,I have been on them for years over this and I'm pissed I could not make it tonight!

I dont know about the meeting but you can bet that they will do what ever they want when it comes to raising or lowering the lake. Was planning on going out saterday, how deep are they catching them in lick creek? What can we do [crappie fisherman] to ever see a 10 '' limit on the fish?

    Deadeye,

This came from the Southfork Resort website:

[B]I attended the meeting last night where the Corp presented the new lake plan they will be submitting to their bosses later this month. It looks like a pretty good plan that takes all affected parties interests into account. There will be a final public meeting on the subject on May 4 at the Harbor Inn meeting room. It is important that we have good representation there as it will be the only meeting where both upstream (MTL users) and downstream interests will be present. Please go back a few posts and read the information. Send an email as explained there. Don’t sit on the sidelines thinking someone else will take care of it for you.—— I also had a good discussion with the Operations Manager at the Corp Project office about several items. It is not likely the re reg dam will be repaired this summer due to budget constraints. Same for the water temp gauge. They are working on several improvement projects around the lake.——

I'm really hoping to try and make the meeting on May 5, but we shall see.

    MO,

Obviously it all depends on what this weather did to them, but if you are headed to Lick, I would wait for the sun to get up a bit and they should start rising.... vary your depths but I would start around 5-6 ft. and go shallower as the day progresses. Find the cedars or any other wood!

As for the 10" limit, man I would love to see it..... but as this is a Corp. lake, wouldn't that have to go into effect on all the Corp. lakes in MO? Or can they stipulate it to certain lakes?

I don't know if a 10" limit could ever be enacted on MTL. I've heard from several sources (including an e-mail to the MDC) that the forage just isn't there. Without the fisherman taking some of the smaller fish the lake could run the risk of becoming overpopulated then stunted. I can't say that these are all facts but it certainly makes sense.
