C'mon fellas, it's pretty obvious that larger fish will eat larger baits. It just depends on if you are willing to give up the bite of the smaller fish to just pick out the larger fish - ie 100 fish/day compared to 20 fish/day. To most people it's all about numbers and action, and thus they use the baits that catch the most numbers of fish. Obviously, these baits catch some larger fish also. Hell, why do you think bass fisherman catch HUGE crappie every spring on 5 in. jerk baits? Big fish like big meals.
I have seen many days on Truman that the 3" baits have out fished the 1 1/2" and 2" baits. So I do not feel that I am giving up any numbers by using them. I have also caught some 5 and 6 inch fish on the bigger baits. So no bait is to big. Late summer I like to add a live minnow or a Gulp minnow behind a blk/yellow 3" Bobby Garlond. Also there are guys that could care less about numbers. I would rather catch a few true hogs over catching a hundred keepers any day. But that is just me. To each his own I guess.
