Default Braided line and cold weather

don't mix real well, but I mean cold.... it soaks up the water and then every rod eye ices up... my 6'er with mono only freezes at the tip... Ed says the water runs off the mono much better, he is right...... glad I have several rods still spooled with mono...... anyone else had this happen to them.....or was I just out in too cold of weather?

Happened to me down below the dam the other day. I was using the 1lb. diameter suffix.

Yes I had the same problem the other day with ice forming in the eye's and kept having to clean it out. I am going to use a shorter rod next time out with mono. Having to clean out the eye's on a 10 footer made my hands cold.

Default Haven't tried braid in this kind of cold

No I haven't so thanks for saving me the trouble of trying it in weather this cold, I have the first eye ice up using mono today. Couldn't imagine how that braid would be once it got reeled up, I would spose it would ice up on the reel too.

Shorter rod with bigger eyes and Mono. I also spray mine with Reel Magic seems to help.
