Hmmm, so all the fish are north in the Little Platte. Is it dangerous (stumps) north of the lake in the Little Platte? Fishing with tubes, Cook?

I was fishing from the bank, the area just north(east) of the ramp is loaded with mud flats, stumps, and trees. My "winter"spot is around the bridge 500 yards from the ramp-that was the area not producing.

Mon I was fishing were Birch road crosses the little platte in Plattsburg. And yes,all on jigs.BLU/WHT or CHR/BLK,abut 4 foot under a float.Crappie nibbles made no difference.Lots of snags, thank goodness for power pro 20# line.

Hmmm...fishing from the bank. Seems to me that some fish are in shallow water. I think I am heading out this afternoon. Seems to be a little overcast, hopefully that means a good day fishing.

Fished Shady Hollow cove for about an hour. Caught a couple small fish and got frustrated and went to fish the boat slips at Little Platte. Caught about 20 in an hour and 1 keeper (10 incher). Lots of little fish but it was fish so I am not complaining. Everyone I have talked to the last week or so is catching little fish but for some reason the fish over 9 are far and few between. They must have lock jaw. As far as all of us meeting up sometime and "barn storming" the crappie, just let me know when and where and I am there.

Count me in too-- if it's Friday or a Weekend. Working Mon-Thur afternoons now...
Oh well... pays for gas, bait and the annual permits.

Guys-same pattern as mon,but a little slower.Overcast, and the spot I was in has a bluff behind it that was blocking the wind.I seem to better in a light breeze.I'll cast slightly upwind of structure(stump, tree, bridge support)and let it drift by or into.Just let the wind and waves give it a little action. Most hits come as it makes contact with the object.Aggressive "popping" the cork gets the white bass interested.

I'll probably start at "W" as well. Thought about going to Plattsburg free ramp to check some of Cook's spots...Seem's like he's the only one catching very many keepers. Probably do a last minute weather check and decide then.

Has anyone tried the Owl Creek arm? There's a ton of timber south of the "w" bridge but I don't see many people fishing there. I've caught small ones under the bridge but haven't really explored the timber.

    Default Plattsburg free ramp

I know that there is no dock there but how deep is it around the ramp? I assume deep enough to drive around but do you have to be careful to not bust your prop? I wouldn't mind trying up there sometime either. Especially in the spring when the whites are in the river.

By the way, I fought the wind today. When I pulled into the Little Platte area to launch I saw the white caps and almost turned around and went home. I fished Shady Hollow (again) and at least caught about 15 in about an hour. NO KEEPERS. Either the big fish are hiding or they are all in ziploc bags in our freezers due to such a great spring.
When in doubt, set the hook.
