    Default Smithville 4/3 and 4/4

Tough fishing on both days. They weren't biting on 4/3. I found them in about 25' of water 10-12' down. I threw them everything in the arsenal and nothing. I should have given them my chalupa from Taco Bell that I had in the boat for lunch. Maybe they'd hit that.

4/4 was better, but was not good by any means. They were again in 25', 10-12' down. They were hitting so light that by the time I realized what I was feeling on the line, I had missed a bunch of strikes. I did find schools of fish in channels between tree lines.

    Anyone else have a report?

On another note, Smithville had a lot of traffic on the 4th. I pulled out just in time (1:30pm). When I drove by QT, the 4th of July armada was gassing up. Man, I don't believe I've seen so many boats on or heading to that lake. I wonder how it was at the ramp when everyone decided to go home. The wait my have been long.

Saw you're boat shopping, but didn't know if you're looking for a new or used. If you're looking for a used and don't mind driving to pick it up, you might try these 2 web sites; New Boats And Used Boats For Sale By Owner And From Dealers and BBC

David, I think I'm gonna put the boat off for a year or so. This economy has me spooked. I hate to have something go wrong with my job and then I'm stuck with a boat payment. I worked my tail off prior to this economic mess to pay all my bills off except for my house. I find it real hard to make myself take a loan out. I like the feeling of not owing anyone anything.

Fished 7/3 up around Roberts and Lynn branches. Took a neighbor that doesn't get to fish much. We caught around 60 fish but only had 10 keepers but they were all over 11 inches. We were fishing 16 fow, 10 feet down. We launched around 6:15 am and the bite was really good until it started raining around 8:00. At around 10:30 or so the bite slowed down and we left.
