Default Little info from table rock guys

headed down there in a couple weeks for a wedding and figured hey might as well take the boat. Will be staying at Big Cedar. Any info on where and what the crappie are doing would be appreciated. I have not fished the lake since the 80s so I have no clue on where to go or nothing. Thanks for any info.

I too will be headed down to Big Cedar (2 weeks, 7/11-7/15) and have previously inquired about any information that might be had about where to go. So, I'll wait here with cmcduck for all the good info to come in.

Too be honest.....Go bass fishing! Crappie on the rock have been a struggle over the last 2 years. The reports I have heard are deep docks or trolling. Where I am not sure.

Hey Cam, I will be there from 11th-14th. Are you actually staying at Big Cedar? We have a wedding to attend to, maybe we will run into each other.

dont fish that area of the lake, and the rock has been a bummer last couple years, now having said that there are some limits comming out of kings river arm, and nice fish too. I can help you in that area, probably an hours drive on crooked roads but thats the only place I am getting reports from on catching fish, let me know if I can help

Yes, we are staying at Big Cedar. This is our first full family vacation. My wife and I are taking our 2 year old daughter with us as well as the fishing boat. She keeps telling me "This is not a fishing trip, so don't think you are spending all day fishing". But the plan is to get out early while she is sleeping and take the 2 year old with me. She loves to ride in the boat. Keep an eye out, it's a black and whit Skeeter, and should have a CDC sticker on the windshield by the time we are down there. Photo is always below. Hopefully this weather keeps up. Highs in the 80s would be nice. I'm thinking I'm going to target smallies and some top water bass in the morning based on reports I keep hearing.

Just getting out with the kids will be fun enough even if the fish do not bite. Have a good time and enjoy your time with the family.

    Default Tablerock info

Fished Tablerock hard for 20 yrs., primarily for Largemouth & Spoted bass.
Crappie are very hard to locate but when you do, they will be huge and
plentiful. Since you are staying at Big Cedar, I would run to Clevenger Cove,
lots of deep cedars, back 1/3 on right side of channel are a lot of deep
cedars you should locate channel, pretty much right in the middle of cove
and look on top side of brake. You might stumble into a school of Spots also.
The guides will be fishing deep 40/50 ft tree tops and dropping nightcrawlers
so their clients will have fun and catch lots of fish. The spots will be in
large schools this time of year and pretty much in very deep trees. My favorite way to hook up would be with 3/8 or 1/2 oz. jig heads with
single tail grubs Yamamoto clear pepper was always good & sometimes I would
take my chartreuse marking pen and and color the very tip of tail for added
attraction. Nightcrawlers rigged on a drop shot setup can be awsome also.
Main thing is to fish deep trees. and keep moving till you find them. Hard to get 1/8 oz crappie jigs that deep. I would make up 1/4 oz. jig heads w/#4 hooks tipped w/ minnows or curly tail grubs for crappie.
For what its worth, Good Luck

Jiggman, thats great info, thank you. Im not picky about what I catch, as long as I catch something. Ive got some big 1/2 oz and 1/4 oz jigs. Locate the trees with electronics and fish the 30' deep trees? Worth a shot. Im told I'll be able to see the fish come after my jig on the electronics. I can see the jig on there, but never the fish. Thanks again.
