I have 2 Surveying Grade GPS units and even had to get an FCC License for the big one. No one's said anything from Trimble about it. Don't thik tnats gonna happen or I'd have gotten something from them

There are SOOOOO many satellites in the GPS "grid" in space that it would take the failue of a very large number of individual units. The chances are pretty slim. That being said, momentary lapses (in the 3-5 second range) are not uncommon at all as aging satellites occassionally "blink." The end user likely never even notices, though.
The military is actually VERY worried about the life expectancy of our satellite network. While commercial satellites ussually work just fine for GPS use, many other function are performed by dedicated equipment. That equipment (and the one way ride into the atmosphere) is very expensive and take years to research and build. As of now, the budget just isn't there to maintain the status quo. We've either got to shell out a chunk of cash, or relearn to use dumb bombs and compasses again!!! :D
Ah, the good old days of carpet bombing the enemy into submission. Nothing sexier than a B-52 with a full load.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.
I have to go to seminars once a year and seems they always have a GPS guy there to tell us whats now. Think we're picking up 20 something now and talk about accurate. I can set a point on something the size of a pin head these days

That is awful hard to beat right there - I'm kinda partial to an
AC130 Spooky or a A10 Warthog tho :D but it's all good.
And then there was the chopper that came right over my head last
Sunday at Bay Springs... I THINK it was an Apache - never saw one of
those up that close to recall. Plenty of Blackhawks and the little
ones, Kiowa? But this dude sounded like it was tearing the world apart
just loafing across the lake. Hardest hitting "chops" I've ever heard from
a copter. I mean hurt your ears whop-whop-whop when he was overhead.
Nice big ole gun stickin out underneath his nose too

it may have a hickup (a quick hickup) but I do not see it going down for several reasons
I agree with ya, triton, I'm just sayin' it needs a little TLC. A new satellite or two would do wonders.
