I've learned if I can't find 'em in the shallow water up in the twigs and structure on minnows I can pull off the dam using jigs. I've read enough on this forum over the past few days to realize that it aint just the Wanabe spreading poo round here so I figure I'm right at home talking Crappie Crap with the best of you. Come on,...tell me some lies and where to catch 'em.

Welcome...we are glad to have you with us. If you want to catch some fish just find where Wannabe fishes and then fish everywhere else, Lol.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

    Default South Mississippi

I'm afraid I'll be no help to anybody if they need some finding Crappies down here in South Mississippi. I've laid into a few Bass on private water but when I feel the need to rear back and set the hook I fall in to my old tricks and run right back down there to coastal Louisiana. Specks & Reds is my primary game and I'll throw whatever it takes to get a box of fish. Might be a cocahoe, might be a shrimp or just a piece of plastic big enough to melt down into a dozen Sockleye charms. That's pronounced Sac-a-lay and is nothing but a coona$$ Crappie. Caught a few of them too but I'm still a Wanabe when it comes to fishing on home turf. Thanks to you and that fellow in glass for the fine welcome.

    Default Where to catch 'em

Knowing where to catch 'em is half the ticket. I relocated up here in 2003 preceding the exodus from South Louisiana caused by the storm and I've yet to know where to catch Crappies locally. I do have a line on a new fishing hole that I will share with the hunter from up north and any other Wannabes out there. Lake Bogue Home is East of Laurel on Hwy 84 and has been closed since the storm due to a massive fish kill caused by debris getting dumped in the lake. MDWFP drained it and cleaned it up. They restocked it and it's been closed for the past 4 years. My Buddy Danny Evans is the MDWFP man at the lake and he says it is chock full of nice Crappies, Bream, Bass and Catfish. It reopens on May 13th to public fishing. I'll be there. Look for the blue topped Hanko with the fantails. I'll be hooked up.

Default That's why they call it fishing

Big leagues? I'm no big leaguer but I'm sure there are some here. I fished 3 years at Sardis before I got into 'em and boxed some nice fish. I've caught some Crappies here and there over my life but it's the big ones that I want to catch. I'm really excited about the trophy lakes here in Mississippi. Don't get me wrong I like a fish fry and any Crappies are the best fish to eat. Just get the grease hot and it don't matter how big they are. But there is something about a stringer of big Crappies that just does it for me. I guess it goes back to my Dad who first taught me to catch 'em and who loved Crappies more than any other fish we caught. Regardless of how or why I'm here, I got the fevah and I'm happy to be here talking about it with people just like you who might have caught some nice Crappies in their day or are just wanting to find them just like me. Welcome aboard.

Thanks. Yeah the trophy lakes and their tributaries are among the best for crappie fishin. I've pulled some of my biggest fish from creeks and runoffs from Butla.

    Smile New to the area

I have recently relocated to the Batesville area. The perfect place for a crappie fisherman. Sad to say, I have not fished for crappie since the early 60s. I have purchased a crappie boat, have plenty of good rods and reels and lots of crappie lures. So when this weather breaks, I will attack Sardis and Enid lakes. I have been enjoying the forum. If someone would like a day on the lake and willing to bring me up to date on crappie fishing I would be interested. My email is: [email protected].

    Default New Guy To Site!!!

    Hiya Fellars,

My name is Doug Yarborough and I am from Cleveland, Mississippi I am 33 years old and have had a great passion for the outdoors for as long as I can remember. It was the way I was brought up. I share my passion with my wife and 3 girls. They are age 11 and a set of twins age 9. We enjoy hunting every type of game and type, bowfishing, camping, gardening, and absolutely love to fish--mainly crappie. We also share this same passion with my mother and stepfather who are in their late 50's. We all have many, many, many memories in the outdoors together as a family. I tie all types of jigs and raise my own live bait as part of understanding the true meaning of fishing. We have 400 acres of hunting land in Holcomb, Mississippi that is absolutely eat up with deer and small game and crawling with longbeards. We mainly fish local small lakes and other lakes like Washington, Whittington, Beulah, Ferguson, Moon, DeSoto, and Lee. We have fished the Corp lakes too from time to time. Every weekend and holiday we get to be in the outdoors thats where we are at. It is my honor to be a part of this site and be among other people who share my passion.
