I don't know why a spinner bait wouldn't work if you added some weight in front of it. Rattle trap might be difficult to control the depth.....?? Give it a try and we will be waiting for the report.
Anyone ever tried trolling them with any success?
Thinking about doing it this summer...

Keep your line tight !
A long, long time ago, I used to troll with 12 oz weights and 3" beetle spins. Worked well back then. Don't see why modern spinnerbaits wouldn't work too.
I've trolled rattle traps growing up in Arkansas and caught a ton of crappie on them. Last year we tried a couple while trolling bandits. We put 1oz and 2oz weights on them a caught a few, but not near the numbers that the bandits produced.
Have caught crappie trolling rattle traps, but I agree that bandits produce more.
I know folks who have caught a lot of Crappie on H & H spinnerbaits.
From the ARK-LA-MISS Delta....... Crappie Paradise ! ! ! !
Gonna at least try the spinnerbaits. I know they will work if I can figure out what ounce weight puts em at what depth.
I like to troll a beetle spin or jig with safetypin spinner and a jig/crank combo on each pole- One combo that seems to work well is a diving crank like a small shad Rap with a jig/spinner about a foot above. I don't catch any dinks, so I don't get numbers, but I consistently get 12" and bigger fish... However, I also catch a bunch of bass doing this and lately I've been getting some white bass, too. I like to try different combos at different depths on each pole to see whats working that day.
I've also found that in-line spinners do pretty well, too.
Man, now I wanna go fishing for some reason!
What?
Pstone we run them on the party barge in the summer. Run spinner baits and rattle traps on front poles and bandits off the back and sides. Run an 8oz weight on the front poles.
