Wannabe...
First I know this topic was just touched on but I would like to hear the why's on Pole selection. I have a crappie pole fetish and here are my thoughts.
I own BnM 10, 11 and 12 foot with the 10' being one of the new Ultra Lite and the 11' the old Ultra Lite. I also own the Ozark Tony Edgar 10, 11 and 12. Last but not least I have Shakespere 9' and 10' crappie hunter rods.
Which is the best pole? Depends on what I am doing.
12' poles I only use for trolling only.
11 foot poles the BnM Ultra lite is my favorite and use it when crappie are shallow 5 FOW or less so I can reach a little further. In my opinion the BnM Ultra Lite has a much more sensitive tip and allows me to fish the 1/16 jig better than Ozark but the Ozark handles the 1/8 jig better.
10' Poles for 3 years the Shakespere Crappie Hunter has been my favorite now it is a tie with the new BnM UL. I use these to fish small jigs deep. 1/16 and 1/32 weights 10 to 16 feet deep. Again I like the Ozark if the jig is a 1/8.
9' poles I use when fishing even deeper 15 to 25 foot deep with 1/16 jigs.
All that said what makes your favorite crappie pole your favorite?

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.
If it were not for you guaranteeing me you could put me on the winning crappie for the Classic on Grenada I would .... Never mind that was a bad dream.
On the Ozarks though. Of the 6 I have 2 of the eye inserts came out and once they come out it is tough to get them to stay. Any problem for you on that? I know BnM had the same problem just also deducted points from Ozark in my grading. The other deduction was the way they handle the 1/32 jig.
Oh, well there's your problem right there. 1/32 ounce jigs are for sissies. In that case, they match your sissy poles perfectly. Carry on.
No problems on my tips. Calm down Bigger, I said tips, not the other word. Did have one turn loose on a Sam Heaton though. Mashed it back in by hand and ran a bead of superglue gel around the edge. So far, holding up. The tip is no big deal though. Easily replaced and not to expensive as long has you have a set of digital calipers and come to the realization that tip ID measurements are stated in 1/32 increments. BTW, this is a lesson best learned the hard way.

Ya beat me to the punch on them pantywaist 1/32 jigs.....WTF? I thought we was CRAPPIE fishin here... He must be catchin Goggle Eye of sumpin like that!
Stick yo jig in there!
I been known to use some of all of em, but I'd still be fishin with the OLD BnM bucks poles if I could find em...new ones ain't the same.
I like the Grizzly poles best of any I have used, followed by the Ozarks. I don't even own anything but 1/8 ounce jigs, so the smaller weights are not a problem for me.
I know, I know, Wb prob has something smart to say now, bring it on...
Yall stop pickin on WB, he's on a secret intelligence mission for Tourch and his trusty side kick satdoc.......

G'Day, not trying to divert the thread but thought better to post here rather than starting a new one...
I've been a fisher- er, -person outside the US for a few years. Now I find myself in the States thinking about trying some crappie fishing, and I'm beginning to gear up. I'm looking for some advice between a couple of rods under consideration.
Quantum Xtralite XP Crappie Rod
or the
The Ozark Crappie Spinning Rod
Any thoughts or comments? Besides purchasing both of them...
(And, yes, I'm a newbie to the board so... hellos....)
welcome aboard. It depends alot on what you plan to do with the rod (jig, troll, cranks, etc)
Go to the cookout coming up and learn about all the options out there and see some "demos" on how to NOT catch crappie, courtesy of Wannabe...:D
