I have gotten BIG TIME spoiled on these big fish. Was considered for a promotion recently and was going to have to move again. The only reason I turned it down was because of the quality fishing I get here. That's pretty bad...huh? Anyone know of a good 10 step program for crappie fishing addicts? Wannabe, you up for starting a program? I figured since you don't catch any fish, maybe I could fish with you for a few months and forget what the bend of a rod looks and feels like.:D:D

Hey now. I do catch fish, just not many of 'em. If you want, you can fish with me and it would be a step down for you. Kind of a tapering off deal. If you think cold turkey is the way to go, you could go with G-3 though. A few days of catching bait sized sunfish and you'll be on your way to your new job in no time flat.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.

Honestly...if you think about the creeks and rivers that feed into butla. They are all surrounded by farm land that is pumped full of fertilizers all year. Im sure a good bit of this fertilizer reaches the rivers and creeks and in turn makes it to butla. This is just a theory, though.

I kinda agree with nitrogerk. I think that the big 4 lakes in Ms. are surrounded
by cattle farms and crop farms. Grenada has more cattle farms than the others.
The rain run off of the fertilizers and manure go's in the lake, And the crappie blow up like Elvis on cream filled donuts.
Now.. Why don't the bass and brim blow up like Elvis..Maybe they like the Beatles better.

Guys, I don't know about that theory. I would think that if there was fertilizer runoff the lake would be overrun with nitrates which feeds vegetation growth. There is hardly any vegetation growing in Arkabutla, not sure about the other lakes. These nitrates also would stunt the growth of the fish or affect their mortality rate. In saltwater fish, nitrates are dangerous to the fish and other inhabitants. I'm gonna do some research on this thought.

In my own personal opinion i dont think agriculture run off has that much of an impact. If you look at the water shed that feeds butla not that much comes from farming. I think the run off carrys a lot minerals and other nutrients to induce a healthy growth rate. On top of that the soil in butla is mineral rich which contributes, and a healthy supply of bait fish and other food sources. I have caught numerous crappie that were full of crawdads and bigones. Also i have been there when the mayflies were hatching, and they literally formed a carpet on the surface. The crappie were feeding on them by swimming around at the surface with their mouths wide open scouping them up. I caught a mess that day and when i cleaned them they all had a wad of mayflies that looked like chewing tobacco. I feel their diet and other nutrients in the water adds to their size and rapid growth. Thats my story and im sticken to it.
