    Default Gas Prices

I just paid $75 for truck and boat gas for a couple of LOCAL fishing trips. The increased prices for gas, and most everything else that is affected by transportation costs, are getting serious for most ordinary folks in this country.

The bad part of it is that our elected officials, or those to be elected, are not even talking about how to make this problem better. As Merle says, "Are the good times really over for good?"

It is getting a little out of hand. For our trip to Grenada last weekend, before we left Southaven, I put $80 worth in my wife's truck (Tahoe), $135 worth in my truck (Suburban) and $30 worth in the boat. When we came back it was another $120 to top the two of them off again for the drive home. I hate to think about what it cost some of the folks who came from out of state to Grenada. Crappie fishing is an expensive addiction. One thing though, it's nice to know our oil companies are reporting earnings in the billions. I'd hate for them to suffer.

Here lately the price of gas has made me stay longer. I fished Enid Sunday from 5:45 am till 6:20 pm. It let me cull and end up with some nice ones

Me and my father have recently been using mom's Toyota Tacoma 4x4 to pull the boat lol. It gets around 21mpg. I am only 28 and can remember gas being around a dollar. I don't think our elected officials give a damn as long as their respective parties get their campaign funds padded. Not to mention the fact we are having to go deeper and deeper to drill for oil in the gulf of mexico. Speaking of has anyone noticed the 10% ethanaol blend stickers at shell? Why am I paying more for gas that is blended?

I hear ya James, it cost me over $300 in gas, but I would do it again in a heart beat.

I wonder if a little Camary will pull my boat John? I think I need to get rid of these big gas hogs and downsize a bit.

Torch: EXACTLY!!!! We're leaving at 1:30 am Friday to save on one nites lodging so we can fish Friday (all day), Sat. (all day) and Sun. 1/2 day cause we gotta get home. BUT, no more 6-10am, pull out, run to town, mess around, and put back in at 4 till ??. Gonna get there and STAY. This fuel thing has messed with almost every industry big time. Really sucks. By the way Torch, any word on Enid today?

I wince every time I pull up to the pump. When I bought my 4x4 F150 gas was less than 1.80 a gallon and life was good. Now at 3.40 a gallon the truck is my best friend and worst enemy all in one.
How do folks making minimum wage make it?

I know what you mean - I remember diesel staying right at a dollar a gallon
for years, and I never gave fuel a second thought other than where I
wanted to fill up. Truck was my ticket to anywhere, anytime.

Now every time I get in it, it seems like it's on "E" and takes all my dough to
just get enough in it for the day. Oil monkey on my back.
I never fill up anymore. But I have got
pretty good at counting up the miles = gallons = dollars in my head when
I'm planning to go somewhere now
