Default Propsed limit change on big 4

Any thoughts on dropping from 15 to 10 crappie on big 4? Not sure if I will make the drive for 10 crappie. I'll be looking for other options. Maybe this will produce the desired results they want. How about new proposed pole limit of 3 per person?. I dont think we can say we didnt see this coming. I do believe we will start seeing the effects of forward- facing sonar with the next couple years.

MDWFP are idiots. Yeah, I said it.

They are going to fool around and turn Grenada into Enid. If they think the population is getting pressure, sure make it 3 fish a day, whatever. But the one thing we have is big fish and that’s what needs protecting. Simple. 1 fish over 15”. And if they throw that survivability crap at me, whatever. If only 11% survive…well that’s 11%
    More that survive, ya idjit.

I don’t see it helping without more enforcement. I’m not going to pay a guide $400 to catch 10 fish. I think it will hurt local economy more than it will help fish.

Wannabe, I like that idea better! What they have proposed currently will only target the bigger fish more imo. If I can only keep 10, I'm culling those 12"-13" fish most likely.

It’s going to affect the meat fishermen more than trophy fishermen. MDWFP should worry more about declining lakes from invasive species destroying lakes.

Any source for the proposed change? A friend sent a picture of a Facebook post where a couple guys were talking about it earlier this week. I can't find anything about it.

Yes our wildlife commission is a joke. I remember seeing a video form the first week of February. A citizen proposed that MS send all state waterfowl stamp money to Canada to protect the breeding grounds. The commissioner answered, "I don't see how sending MS dollars to Canada so they can farm raise ducks helps MS duck hunters".. he actually thinks all ducks are farmed ducks and no wild ducks. Strike one, then this is the same guy who got caught baiting turkey this spring with crickets in Holmes county! So yes my faith in that bunch hovers between little to none!

So that's your answer? Can't be bothered with posting a link huh?

Not doubting it one bit, but come on throw a dog a bone here... go wading through all the inter workings on MDWFP site to find something others may can't find or see.

Does it really matter what is legal ? Dropping from 30 to 25 to 15 , has it mattered ? No. Only requires outlaws to make more trips per day home . They can make it one per day and it must be swimming west, it does not matter . All this mess about number of poles , this length on this lake , this length below the outlet . All is Garbage . We have no enforcement . To prove my point this past Wednesday I fished the opening of Elvis Presley lake . Slot length was 16-22 inches . We threw back 8-10 in slot . kept 3 . went home with 13 bluegill and 3 bass . While on the water a warden pulls up and checks our fish . He says one of those looks to be over 16 to him . I told him , check it . He says "very close " . My response to him was a half inch was not close to me . They leave and we fish on . On the way home I called a friend to see how he did . Turns out dude that complained about our one 15.5 had no problem with them having 12 in the slot ! There were wardens everywhere . He even was checked again leaving and the warden spoke up that he had already checked friends fish . My friend fishes lamar Bruce often where the slot is 18-24 was where he went wrong . The issue to me and has been forever is simply enforcement . Mississippi has sold out the little guy. Back in the day they cussed multiple fishing , now they want to go one pole . The deal is if you want numbers instead of buying poles ect , buy livescope . When they fail to enforce the laws/ regulations it encourages more to break laws . For years you could not do anything on federal waters to make money . Sell tomatoes , firewood , ect . No . At some point the State of Mississippi legislature must spend money rather than try to make money off of taxing , selling license, ect . According to our legislature they left 600 million in the rainy day fund last year . Why do we have longer growing seasons than northern states but we seem to be going backwards with game and fish ? We build fish hatcheries , why ? I bream fish a 88 year old that has a "lifetime " state pass . Why do they not sell them anymore ? Easy money . Guides , limits , poles , livescope , is not the problem . Lack of funds to enforce and protect the lakes is the issue . Rant over .
