Not sure that Ed Canada is still living but he made 100's of those cut down boats and rigged them in Oxford .
So I FINALLY found a guy building those old style aluminum one man crappie boats like we saw back in the 90’s. Been wanting one forever! Any of y’all have one and how did you rig it? Pedals for steering or stick steer? Reostat for trolling motor speed/forward/back? Need some advice as I’m picking it up soon. Thanks!

There were a few short boats at Water Valley Landing about 2004. Owners said they were built in Water Valley.

Look into the guys that are rigging there kayak's. Be about the same as that 8ft boat. I had to have one of those also. I used it it 3 times, give it to a guy. I could sit down and fish. But man I sure could not get out of it. Also if you have a 3d printer, theres good parts for one. Like the Yoke to steer a standard trolling motor by foot paddles. And lots more stuff like that. Search Thingiverse - Thingiverse I have printed off a couple of parts to rig up my Crappie brakes.
Tiny boat nation has tons of stuff to rig out small crafts.

Pete, good seeing you here again. Like your link, wish I had a 3D printer.
I remember very little about the short boats, I viewed them maybe 10 minutes. All had foot steer, cables were fed through the gunwale or a tube mounted on each side. One had the motor head mounted up front.
I rigged a Minn Kota 30 motor on my kayak. I tried it first without an added rudder. It was slow in turns and wouldn't hold a straight line. I added this and have better control.

For turning I added this. A small bolt through the last hole on one side on a piece of 1/2" PVC. Push and pull to turn.

No need of a heavy battery. I have a 12V-18AH, when fully charged it's good for 6 hours (that I know of).
I'm on a DIY group, I'll send you a link.
