Default More boat troubles ‘95 Mariner 40hp 4cyl 2stroke twin carb.

So couple weekends ago my boat ran ok (not great). Kinda like it was dragging something. Engine would rev up but not get full power and go about half power or so. Next time put it wouldn’t crank at all. Kept trying and it cranked up a few times but go dead like a cold 2 stroke or starve for fuel. (It’s never idled great). I get it home and mess with it and no start not even with choke cleaner or ether.

Pull a plug wire and hook online tester no spark try another same for all four plugs.

Now I’m lost as what to do and where to start. I ohmed coils btw posts and get beep and 0. Btw ground post and spark plug connector I get 1 or OL. On new coil btw post I get .7 ohms and get 1 or OL (diff meter)

How do I check stator and trigger? I have a DVA adapter I can use but don’t really know how to set meter for testing with it. I have a manual also but it’s kinda vague/hard to read. Motor seems to spin over fast enough. Haven’t checked compression but don’t think that’s issue.

Do a YouTube search for testing stater and trigger. Couple of good ones on that. If I had to guess I’d say trigger.

Got figured out finally. Switch box (power pack) was bad. Took me a while to figure out what I was doing and how check it. Even with manual and all the videos I watch.
