Jeff, my son thought about this weekend to late. I would have been there sharing their site with tent, airbed and fan.
We were there for 4th July weekend 4 years ago. The beaches were closed and every sandy spot was filled. From our campsite we could see the ramp in the campground. The parking lot was full and some campsites had empty trailers. The lake around the campground was buzzing. We kayaked across to Boy Scout Beach early and fought waves returning in the afternoon.

If I wasn’t so worried about a board disintegrating and putting a bracket through fiberglass, you can bet I’d have waited! I only got one of the 12 foot ones replaced, was fixin to lose my shade - and the stoopid people were getting thicker by the minute.
As hot as I was and as much fight as that gatorback stuff was putting up, it wouldn’t have took much to set me off. Was thinking, that’d be a fine mess, hauled to jail with my stuff all strown out in the parking lot
Turns out the board was still fairly solid, but the lag screws were rusted away to about half size, and the only thing holding them in was about 50 wraps of duct tape previous owner had put on.
