Default Crappie Forever Tagged Fish Catch ‘n Release

Saw this Clarion-Ledger article about Crappie Forever starting a catch ‘n release program and have tagged some fish on several state lakes for prizes. You just pretty much take length and weight measurements and send that and a video of the release to the number on the tag.

Win cash or prizes in Mississippi by catching a tagged crappie

I like the idea and the catch and release should definitely help the fishery…

I think that's an awesome idea and one that crappie anglers adopt.

Odd man out as usual, I just don't cheer for any cause. I would like hear more specifics on tags. Can monetary tags be identified differently from prize tags?

I would gladly put back a 17" fish for a $100. Be pretty upset if I turned it back for a $3 ballcap I didn't want in the 1st place.

Seems to be a noble gesture but being tournament fisherman it could be for more selfish reasons. Like look we need to catch the big fish you weekend warriors need to eat the dinks! I have reservations about most folks "good cause" now days!

All I see are the thousands of lost fish at Arkabutla . The number of citations written for short fish , ect . For What ? We were told the Magnolia crappie were to off set pressure on the big 4 . To my knowledge none are in the big 4 . Crappie fishing exploded when bass fishing took the high road and us meet eaters got on board with the crappiethon world of the 80's . Now that the money has gotten better crappie and catfish are moving up . Thank the game and fish for red ear/ bream .
