IMO it depends on how well the fish will move to the bait. Right now, not hardly an inch. I’m using a long rod and dropping and holding in em. No pitching or casting is working right now. With that said, it’s not necessarily temperature. Last year this Time of year I was pitching out to 30’ away and they would move to get the bait.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.

    I never cast.
I can pitch 20-30 feet and feel I am more accurate. I prefer just dropping on them but sometimes they are just too spooky. Water I fish is pretty clear to stained. I practice in the back yard from 25 feet and use an eight inch plastic lid as my target. With live scope you only have a 7.2 ft spread at 21 feet. Very important to be within that target area.

We cast 90% of the time.
You get within 35’ and they leave.
Home lake is clear and deep.
This weekend they wanted it falling.
I love going to a muddy or off colored lake, you can sit right on top of them!
