Default Takeum's Tasties Work on the Biloxi River

Ran the Biloxi River yesterday for a few hours looking for new deep structure piles and brought brother Andy's 1/16oz jigs to wet for the first time. We caught something right before the new year, don't know what, mine started the last trip I posted but till this week I didn't feel like fishing. Anyway not complaining, it was great to put my face in the breeze running the river. Stopped at a few new piles in 20-22ft of water and caught these on best I can say a Bluegrass colored jig Takeum tied. The jigs got solid thumps most of the time but sometimes my line would just go slack on the drop so I set the hook. One of the hook sets cost me a jig, wasn't a bite stopping my jig it was a tree limb. The hooks really hold I couldn't get it free. Surface was 58 degrees, warmer off the main river but no fish at all caught off the main river either. All were around 12ft. Mix of very overcast and a bit of sun, tide was moving in but not at a fast pace. I found most of the fish on the backside of the piles out of the tide flow.

Nice catch fella! I was wondering how you were doing and if you were fishing. We made a run to Pascagoula River Monday but water was high and heavy stained. Only got a few bites none on jigs, live minnows only. Tried your advice on your jig setup. If next few day rain doesn’t cause rise may go back this weekend.

You've got to forget the Pascagoula River till summer. Use this link to track all the water levels for Alabama to Louisiana, forecast rise - fall - NIP water movements. Water level changes say generally what clarity conditions exist.

Thank you, all the years living and fishing in Mississippi we never fished Pascagoula River. The truth of the matter we never started fishing it till last May and had some good success. We have just been learning water levels when to go and when not to go. Now as for the Pearl River we know what levels are best there and even with the Jordan River at Bay St. Louis. As for the Biloxi and a couple of the others well we never fished them a lot as they seemed to have more what we call pleasure boat rides running them. It can get challenging to have a enjoyable day of fishing if you know what I mean. Don’t get me wrong they have every right to be on the water as much as I do. I tend to find places they don’t like riding in. Even though I am 62 I am not retired so I am mainly stuck with weekend fishing. Some days I have a half day but mainly go to Alabama river delta those days.
However I would like your input on fishing waters that are effected by tide. Thanks again for your time and knowledge.
