Default 1st trip to Sardis Lake

I have booked a trip to Sardis on Nov. 25-29. I have a guide for the 26th and I have ordered a map of the lake. Just wondering what type of conditions to expect that time of year. I know they vary but just as an average. Weather, water levels, water temperature, water clarity, depth to fish and any other general information. My preferred method to crappie fish is spider rigging with minnows but also use plastics a lot. Any recommendations on minnow size and plastic colors would help. Looking forward to this trip and hopefully will make it a semi-annual trip if things turn out. Thanks in advance for any help.

I am out of everything now but livescope .At Sardis I used bobby garland strollers on fin spins . orange/ chartreuse , black / chartreuse . were always good . I used gnats tipped with minnows if going less than .5 .half oz. weights . Weights in middle .

Thanks. Several years ago I found that same color bait worked real well at Ky Lake. I just recently started using Fin Spins and I like them a lot. Thanks again.

Well, as far as weather is concerned, it's North Mississippi. It literally could be 30 degrees or 80 degrees. It actually could be 30 in the morning and 80 in the afternoon (not joking). Watch the wind. If the forecast says 10, that usually means 15-20 on the lake. Sardis can get nasty quick, so be safe. The fishing is generally fantastic that time of year. Maybe my favorite. You'll do good pushing your minnows. As far as how deep. Just ask your guide. If you put a deposit down, i'm sure he will steer you in the right direction for your trip the day before. If he doesn't, get another guide.

Thanks for the info. I have been going to Weiss Lake in Al. that time of year and it sounds like Sardis is about the same. We are driving down on Friday so the 1st day fishing will be with guide. I have fished Ky. lake a lot. I don’t like the wind but use to it. When you book things in advance you just have to go with it and do best you can. Really looking forward to it and if things work out ok I could put it on my list for about 4 times a year. Thanks

Thanks. I usually set up with 4 rods minnows and 4 rods with plastics and see what they go for the most and after about an hour switch to whatever works best or rig up with minnow on top and plastic on bottom. I will diffidently give them a try. Thanks

ditto . Only fishing down here a few days? every hook would have a minnow . Have always been told to let the fish tell you what they want . Have seen fish not bite a jig but never not a minnow . If they bite a jig the minnow will not turn them away . Been fishing Sardis all my life and am 66 . Never seen a guide without minnows unless pulling cranks . There is a reason . jmo
