Default LA Visitor Question for anyone near Biloxi

    Hello MS members!

Myself and some of my co-workers may be in Biloxi in late August and one of them heard about gigging flounder near Biloxi. If anyone on the board could give me some information on that, I'd really appreciate it. I've heard comments before to "not get in the water" due to heavy bacteria and such, so I don't know if anyone still does this in that area of the coast. Feel free to send a PM if you'd prefer.

    Much appreciated
    Scott

Scott the Vibro is bad this time of year. I do not get in the water at all out front. Quite a few flounder are being stuck right now. In fact I have a job in my shop that is building a 16ft Flounder Gigging aluminum boat. Been on it for a few weeks. Back to the Vibro, all you need is a scratch in your skin for the stuff to get in, after that you may get lucky and just loose use of the limb but you may loose the limb too. Bad stuff! Why I want back to freshwater fishing, I work with my hands all day on something.

Thank you for that information. I've seen some videos online and noticed people were wearing waders or boots, but still sounds risky for anyone getting their hands into it as well. Maybe I'll just consider bringing a couple of poles instead. I'll let my co-worker know. Really appreciate it.

She said "if it was a fat eating bacteria then I would dive in head first and lay there for hours!!". But she isn't all that interested in risking a leg.
