New to Crappie Fishing In MS

When I was younger, I used to crappie fish with my mom, but 20+ years have past and my wife and I would like to get back into. We normally fish Ross Barnett with a few trips to Okatibee every now and then. Would anyone be willing to give me a few pointers as to some good spots at Ross Barnett or Okatibee as well as any advice as to what rigs work best in regard to bait / jigs? Not trying to get in on your hotspots, but just somewhere my wife and I can go and catch a mess of fish. Thank y'all !!

There are some top notch guides on that lake . Terry Stewart and Brad Chappell come to mind quick . The folks at Tommy's trading post will also point you to where locals are catching fish . When all else fails follow the boats . Get a map and find . S-curve , Oil Well Woods . Iron lake. pelehatchie Bay and the welfare hole . All locals can point these out quick .These we often target areas 30 years ago while coaching in that area .

Thanks for the info. We went out with Hayden Jeffries a few weeks ago and caught a nice mess. Will definitely give those spots you mentioned a try. Thanks again

Hayden Jeffries is awesome . I heard that he was doing instructional trips to use livescope but did not know he was doing regular guide trips .
