Hernando MS. 20 miles or so south of Memphis

Heading to Lake Washington the first weekend in March. Coming from West KY and not gonna be able to leave until 4-5pm on Wednesday. Wanting to get to other side of Memphis (3hrs) and stop for the night. Any advice on a safe place to stay south of Memphis? I’d pull everything out of boat, but if we have to drive straight down then we would.

If we can leave town sooner we’re hoping to get further south, if not, that a safe area? Been to a concert in Safe Haven before, wasn’t sure about that area either. If we can make it further south is Cleveland a safe area for overnight boat storage?
I don’t know about with a boat but Cottonhouse downtown is newest and nicest but I do t know about parking. I’ve seen boats parked out front of the hotel on north side of Wendy’s Quality Inn or Holiday Inn Express. The one across from Baxter is nice too Hampton Inn. Cleveland is couple hours south of Memphis. And don’t stay in Clarksdale or Greenville.

I don’t know your chosen route from West KY but I’ve found taking 412 from Dyersburg to Jackson, I-40 from Jackson to I-269, I-269 to Hernando takes Memphis out of the equation and makes for a much nicer trip.
I understand your concerns about leaving a boat in a motel parking lot overnight. I’m lucky enough to leave any time I want so we drive straight thru. We’ll be at Washington a few days after you will.

Driving straight south from Murray through Tupelo and on to Lake Washington is a much more pleasant drive and only adds about 45 minutes.

Thanks guys. We’re trying to figure out how to leave early and make the whole trip. But might make a detour towards Enid thanks to eagle 1’s recommendation.
Doug- not sure I’m a good resource for someone like you, but I’d be more than welcome sharing any info I can with you. You’re reports on Ky normally give me a little direction!

Thanks! We tried to hire Brad Chappell and Patrick Stone but they were both booked. We want to make this a longline trolling trip so I decided to take my boat and wing it. I’ve talked to several guys who fish it a lot and got some good guidance. Of course everything depends on weather as to how close fish are to spawn. I’m hoping they are still holding off spawning.
Rickie (rnvinc) and Jere (CRP4570) and me. Staying at Roy’s south.

We’re staying at Roy’s south also. This is my first time, so not sure what to expect. Think we’re going to run down and fish Eagle on Saturday since it’s the big mama tourney. I’ve gotten a little info from some guys at Arkema, so we’ll see what happens. After watching Brad’s seminar from Grizzly, I’m going to give long lining a try if we’re not having much luck.
If your going down 55, iv stayed at Comfort Suites in Batesville, MS many times. They accommodate fishermen and boats
