    Default Side by side Fishing

I’m setting up a new boat that was just recently purchased. I’d like to hear yalls thought on seating preference for trolling. As the operator of the boat do you prefer sitting on the left side or right side facing forward? And also why do you prefer to sit on one side over the other?
On others’ boats, as a guest I have been on both sides depending on who I went with but really never thought to ask why they have theirs setup the way they do.

I always set on the left side of the boat! Started out that way it just feels right, and the reason i started out that way is when i first got a boat big enough to fish two up front it had a regular foot controlled trolling motor up there and I am only coordinated enough to run it with my right foot haha

HA!! I'm the same way and great point. Except in this case having an iPilot and operating only with remote control, that wouldn't be an issue.

Maybe consider electronics placement when making your decision

I run a Terrova with I pilot and use my remote most of the time...but i do have my foot control up front in the center in case I need to manuever the boat while i have my hands busy bringing in a fish...for that my right foot works the best so I sit on the left side of the boat. Also...with my TM mounted on the left side, plus my fish finders mounted on the left side...That leaves the right side of the boat even tho it has a spyder lock set up on both sides...the right side is still clear to enter or get off of the boat.

I run the boat from the console on the right side. I fish on the right side. My electronics are on the right side. Trolling rack on each side. Trolling motor on
the left side. The center of my boat is open for walking in and out. I put an extension on my left arm rest to hold my remote at finger reach. It is close enough
to my fishing partner for he/she to reach if I'm busy.
    Tell'em I'll be there.

I prefer left but , don’t really know why ? Ever since my terrova purchase is doesn’t matter where I’m sitting with the remote. So now my favorite position is behind the 2 sitting in front- watching them pull big crappie up while I occasionally set new track with my I pilot link ! My boat is set up with electronics centered on adjustable post so everything is equally accessible from either seat or at console .

To answer the original posters question.....There is no wrong way or right way....It all comes down to personal preference.
