I have foul hooked big cats and other big fish many times... so I know that was quite a tussle. Congrats on a very nice flathead.
28lb Flathead on 16f bgjp. I snagged this joker on the tip of the tail with a 1/4 ounce jig while trolling and some how managed to land it. It took a solid 15 minutes. I couldn’t do anything with him since I had him by the tail. I honestly thought I had a monster!

I imagine that was a heck of a fight. I've hooked big ones like that square in the mouth and it was a struggle to say the least. Always get broke off trying to keep them from tangling other lines with much relief on my end. Nice fish, and the best eating whisker fish in the lake in my opinion!

I tail hooked one about a year ago with a 1/32 ounce jig head on 4 lb line. It took me 50 minutes to get him in. Flathead catfish is the only catfish that I'll eat and it's one of my favorite fish.

That’s quite a accomplishment! It’s a funny feeling when your fresh water fishing and hook a fish you can’t do anything with.
You did catch a monster. That would be a good fish on a trot line. What did it weigh?
Tell'em I'll be there.
