I watched a video on YouTube the other day where the water was low 60’s and air in the 40’s. He was catching right along.

I have been pulling cranks twice a week for several months with good success . Tried spider rigging this week and did ok . I know , let the fish tell you . My boat does not have room for carrying two sets of rods )(for two ). Gets crowded quick when taking someone else .Thought some of the guides would have a preferred degree they switched . I was in the same stituation as you and didn't want to have two different sets of poles for slow trolling and running cranks. So I always "push" cranks. I have one set of 14ft Denali's that I use for both methods. There are other options out there too if you don't go the Denali route...I have done the same with Ozarks and Southern rods in the past as well.

Bluesraider, you have pushed with Southern Crappie rods? the reason i ask is, I started with 12,13,14 ht star collapsible rods. when rigging my boat i found a set of wally marshall rods for sale and my new friend bought them, as i was spending extra money on boat at the time. So i later found a set of southern crappie 143T ( 2oz rated) for sale. we went pulling crankbaits one day and had all 3 rods together the WM were alot heavier in weight and backbone than the other 2. he pushed for a bit just playing with one of the WM but based on stiffness i would never think the SCR would handle pushing? we rigged the WM with 2 or 3oz of weight with 3ft leader to crankbait. Which SCR did you use and how did you rig for pushing. I have been thinking about selling the SCR and tryign another brand if i push more.

Sorry I am just seeing this.....yes I pushed with the 143T's rigged with 2 and 3 oz ScottV weights and a 3 ft leader to the crank. I have a post on here somewhere with a pic of them. I will see if I can find it.

I’m going to give pushing a try this weekend. I bet that will work just about year around.

It can definantly get crowded quick with rods. I have gone at times with 16+ rods. a set for rigging and a set for pulling cranks haha
