I always "push" when I am running cranks. When in Mississippi and fishing by myself I tend to have the two middle poles with 3 oz weights to keep them down as others have mentioned, but will often run 2 oz weights on my two outside poles.
I use the depth chart too Scott....I also add the distance from my rod tip to the water.

I want to try pushing cranks this week, but I have never done this before.i have pulled cranks and spider rigged many times, just not familiar with the set up. I currently have b&m pro staff trolling poles that are 12’. Will these work for pushing cranks?
12 pst is what I use for pushing. They bow up pretty good with 3 oz but handle it just fine.

I second what Cray says.....I had some 12ft PST's long ago I used and they worked great for pushing with 2-3 oz. weights. I have 14ft Denali's now and they work as well.
