Default Okatibbee Ramp advise for someone new

Ok I have looked at Gin Creek, Pine Springe, and the ramp at the dam. I know there is at lest one more ramp maybe two. Gin Creek ramp is close and a good ramp. Water looks to be very shallow. I have never been on the lake so have no idea where to be cautious. I like the looks of the ramp at Pine Springs and It appears to have access to a lot of good water and locations to fish. Would love to get a tour of the lake from someone that truly knows the lake and where to tell a new guy to be cautious. Last thing I want to do is damage the lower unit.

On a side note I was at the dam ramp yesterday afternoon and I couldn't believe I could see a very long point that appeared to be a lower unit eater if you didn't know the lake. Looked there was another large area of dry land directly out from the ramp. Was I seeing things or is these two places actually there?

I think that the Collinsville and Pine Springs ramps are the best. Gin Creek will be the shallowest and you need to follow the poles out into the main lake when the water is down at the dam ramp except when the water is up to about 343 and above. It pays to know your way around the water down there. So use Collinsville or Pine Springs until you learn you way around.

I agree with what my buddy Steve said. I use Collinsville Landing all the time. With them drawing the lake down as they do, Gin Creek Landing has a lot of shallow water around it. You need to follow a marked channel in and out of the landing at the dam. Water is around 8 ft deep at Collinsville.
