guess its cause of how big it is iv usually fished small oxbow lakes no larger than 4 acres and never found a crappie but again could be the size of the river

I have caught a ton of fish in the Ms. River oxbows -Whittington, Beulah and Desoto. They are the closest lakes to us on the west side of the Delta. I haven't fished it in a couple of years, since the carp got so bad. I could catch a limit, when it was 30, with a jig pole. Lots of trees to fish around.

arnt they full of big gar and bowfin as well? id think it would be hard to have a big crappie population with so many other predators but guess since its so big and coming off the mississippi river oxbow lakes from stuff like pearl river would have alot more trash fish than good game fish
