After seeing this post, I will be thru bolting my bottom base hand knob as well as the upper rack as well, get rid of that mickey mouse crap. Lot of money riding on these racks down the road, and most time to dark to see them when heading to the lake.
Yeah I am really torn on what to do now. I really liked the versatility of these and being able to move them to different positions if need be but now afraid I will worry every time I hit the road. I thought I had them tightened down pretty good so I guess the only alternative is to use longer bolts and put a lock nut on the back side. But that will eliminate the ease of making changes.

Yes, but trading convenience for greater security on expensive rods. Sorry for your loss and good luck!

That sucks. Really rough stretch of Highway, not surprising.

Thanks ...yes it really sucks especially since those poles hadn't seen the water yet!! But things could be worse and if this the worst that happens I will be blessed! I know others who have much bigger worries than losing fishing poles!

Other than the 8 mile stretch from Helena to where you cross 61 it's not too bad....as long as you slow down at the 2 RR crossings!!! I learned a few years back those can be tough!! I only travel that way maybe 3-4 times a year but always thought it was a pretty easy drive.

Wow. Sorry to hear about that. I bought a set at crankfest and haven’t installed them. May not now.

I traveled that stretch of Hwy 49 between 61 and Moon Lake one time. Don't think I'll ever travel it again. Thought I was going to tear up my truck AND boat. The State should condemn that highway and start over! Total nightmare! Now I can see how you lost your rods.

WOW!!! Rods, Reels, and half a rack. That’s a really tough loss on brand new equipment. I know it's a long shot but....
