We got some people on here with some very, I mean VERY low self-esteem. I'm sorry that a guy like me can make people think that I'm better than them on a message board on the internet...What is the world coming to?

Hey Slab, like I said in a previous post..>The first trade MIGHT HAVE BEEN A MISTAKE. The SECOND trade, MIGHT HAVE BEEN A MISTAKE....DO YOU SEE A PATTERN? Do you see anything wrong with that? Do you wonder if he traded them to someone to fix his truck or paint his house or wash his dog? I don't know but it just don't fly down here in Mississippi. If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...(you fill in the rest).

as far as the pattern you suggested, you must think that this was for profit. he didn't want to profit at all. he gave the fish away for the shrimp to cook for himself and other people in the campgroound. the state lost a lot of revenue brought in byt his man. in black and white it was wrong. he did this unknowingly. it will not happen again. i did not try to defend him, rather alert the people on this board that the laws are complicated. this country was established on trade. fur, gold, grain, and so on. if someone cut your grass and would not accept money for it, giving them a mess of fresh crappie would be a nice gesture, however, it would also be an illegal one. there has to a line drawn on alot of aspects of fishing. he just got mixed up in the middle of one. if it happens again then you have your pattern boss.

how did we lose money with a guy who's staying in a campground? Loss of his license sale? What's that? 30 bucks out of state? I'm sure he had an in-state license too.

I tried to defend the guy and say it might have been a mistake. But, it is what it is.

After some research I have found that Mississippi does not require any type of permit to guide on their lakes. So with that being said, you can legally fish for profit in that state. Go figure, a guide can charge for people catching fish, so long as everyone over 16 years of age has a valid license. I was told to bring folks down and have a great time. Just one more reason to know the regulations. Sounds like a new gig in my spare time.

so if we had a permit and it was $10 or $100 or $1000 would that then make it ok in your eyes? Not enough people guide in this state to have a NEGATIVE impact. The only impact we can have is a POSITIVE one. our game and fish people have done the math with the tourism people...it's all good.

I invite you to get into guiding...I know my clients are glad I did.
