I have been with Bill a few times and learned a ton . We smoked them a few times on the big 4. Was watching B/m pro staff video with road runners and 1 oz. weights . That is a lot of difference than what" I THOUGHT WAS NORMAL " . Whatever normal is . lol

When I used to I used 3 ounce weights on bottom and 2 loop knots above that space them 2' apart. Go as fast as your lines stay vertical. I could move pretty quick and turn on a dime with 3 ounces. I used bare hooks and minnows. Nothing fancy.

Use road runners most of the time, 1/4 to 1/8 depending on the bite. Southern pro tubes and tubes tipped with minners also depending on the bite. I vary speed from 1.70 to 1.50 again depending. Above 1.0 always use 2 oz. As BRM says, you can't outrun the fish.

I determine my weight size based on the depth of water I am fishing. In 10-15ft I run a 1oz weight, 15-20ft 2oz weight, 20ft+ 3oz weight. I vary my speed from .8-1.5mph with happy median around 1-1.1mph. I use the new BnM Power Trollers with BnM Pro 100 spinning reel, 10lb Gamma High Vis for main line and 10lb Clear for leaders. I like the Capps and Coleman style setup with Crappie Magnet Fin Spin 1/16oz on top hook and 1/8oz on bottom hook. The Fin Spins have a willow leaf blade that turns really fast providing a ton of flash and vibration, the blades come in Silver and Gold. Gold has been my favorite in stained water. I like the Bobby Garland Stroll R and Fin Commander Slab Curly grubs with Chart/Black and Chart/Blue colors. I will tip with minnows or crappie nibbles when the bite is tough. Don't be afraid to mix up your bait offerings and choices, let the fish tell you what they want? Water clarity, wind, sun vs cloudy changes daily, so be open minded. I also like a Arkie Minnow Teaser tipped with Minnow on top and bottom when bite gets finicky. I hope this helps, good fishing!
