Wow! Old Rex was calm and giving them up early this morning. I had eighteen in a hurry, and then... In the midst of a bunch of spider riggers, my trolling motor locked up and would not turn more than one quarter of the way around... I drifted out into open water, and after a few minutes realized it was more of a repair job than something that I could fix in the boat...
So, back to the landing, and off to get some tools, all the time hoping for a quick fix and a return to what was probably going to be an exceptional day.
However, that was not to be, as the repair took about two hours, and I had to head toward my next stop, for this evening...
I will return in the morning in hopes that they will still be there, and biting again!
    Some days the bear wins...

I was putting in at Fannin Landing and someone was working on a boat off to the side of the parking lot. My wife and I put in about 10:30 or so and caught two catfish, no crappie. i'm trying to learn the ropes on crappie fishing. The lady at the bait shop said crappie were being caught in about three ft of water so we tried but nothing. Looked like everyone else was in the middle so we put putted out there and I thought I could see some structure at about 13 ft but still nothing! Meanwhile my new Lowrance Hook 4 did not want to display bright enough to see much. Ah, but there is another day.....
