    Default Aberdeen

I am from Alabama and fish the Aliceville and Gainesville pools but was wanting to try Aberdeen since it's about 45 minutes closer for me to drive. I would be coming in from Highway 278 from Sulligent and was wanting to know about boat ramps and a place to buy license. I See 2 ramps blue bluff and Becker bottom. Any info would be much appreciated.

Can’t help you on the river pool’s. But, easiest way to get a license is to call 1-800-5-GO-HUNT or online at the MDWFP website.

I grew up in Amory and used to fish Becker bottoms quite a bit. I can’t speak for blue bluff, but Becker bottom used to be a jam up crappie spot. Becker is in the middle of nowhere, but it’s got a good ramp and ample parking. Your best bet for a license would be to do as feelay suggested and do it online. You could also drive on to Amory and get one at wal mart. It’s on 278 as soon as you get into Amory from sulligent and probably 5-10 mins from the Becker boat ramp.

I live close to the area and work in Amory.
The ramp in becker is ok. Only problem is that its silted in if you go right out of ramp. No access to waterway. If you go left you can get to the channel. However it is full of logs and trees. If I used that ramp it would be idle speed only till i got to the channel. However some good fishing in the process of getting there. If you have a spot you are specifically headed to and want to runI would put in at blue bluff. Good ramp there. Also the marina has a ramp at no charge . Hope you catch a bunch!

I would chose marina over Becker bottom for sure . Not much "borrowed" there. Blue Bluff is a great place to start . Got all depths of water with wood there .

Sounds like Becker may not be what it used to be!

Thanks for all the replays and info. Never been here to this pool so good to know what to expect. Sounds like I need to go to blue bluff and start my search there.

Only been to Aberdeen a couple of times. Caught really good fish there both trips. I remember navigating around was tricky, like most of the river system. Takes a few trips to learn it. I usually fish Gainsville and Aliceville also.
