I hate to post again but I'm only trying to help. It really is not complicated, you just have to be fearless enough to find out what works with your rig and how it's set up. Best trips I ever had is when I did something totally different

Don't hesitate to post, I find the info very helpful!
Little tidbits here and there give us newbies clues.......teasers!!!!! Got me thinking about some rigs I've got tied from a walleye trip.....beads and blades!!!!
Combined with a Ky rig as mentioned earlier in this thread, possibilities are endless!!!

Truth be known these original southern crappie tactics are really just tweaked northern walleye tactics

Thanks BRM,John and others for the lesson. I have never power trolled but with this info may give it a try. Where do you get 2 to 3 oz. bell sinkers? Will my southern crappie rods handle that much weight?

    Coach

i Pushed some jigs 2 wks ago for my first time and I’m going to like it . Even caught several fish on the first time trying it! i have a southern pro 16’ (not the heavy one) using 2 oz weight and it handled it very well not near the bow that I though it would be .in the future when I have to replace rods I’m definitely going to be using souther pro . The best price I found on the 2oz Was at grizzly jig .37 cents each . I will have some with me at camp if you want to give some a try.

Yes the Southerns will handle it well, even if you don't have the heavier ones. I don't mind the bow in the pole like some do and I do not like a stiff rod, seems like the pole with a little give hooks up better.

Email [email protected] or look up ecsinkers on Facebook. He makes sinkers out of his house for $2lb. He'll pack them into a flat rate box for shipping. 12lbs were $31 shipped.
