Think it is the E size that I have and it will run almost a week straight on 1/32
How big of a bottle do I need. I have the pediatric regulator that goes down to 1/32 the oxygen diffuser stone.. just can’t figure out how long a bottle will last to know what size I want to go with.
How long and what size do others use??

I use three different bottle sizes the small, medium and large. They do make a really big medical bottle but I’ve never had one of those. It’s about 3’ long or so and about the size of a soccer ball in diameter. I use the medium bottle in my boat the most. A medium bottle used just on the weekends will last about a month or so set at 1/16. On that setting, they will last about 4-6 days straight through. If you run at 1/32, they will last twice those times. The amount you run depends on how much bait you’re trying to keep and the water temperature. I run slower rates in the cooler months, and higher rates in the warmer months. The hotter the water temperature, the less oxygen the water will hold. Just the opposite in cool water. Fish do not die from warm water. They die in warm water because the oxygen in a container displaces faster than you replace it.
Another key is to make sure you regularly replace/check the seal from the regulator to the bottle. I’ve wasted a lot of oxygen by not checking that gasket/seal after replacing a bottle. I actually dip mine in the water now just to check that seal. If that seal leaks the oxygen will free flow from the bottle without the back pressure the diffuser puts on it. The same thing happens with a regular air stone. No back pressure will make you blow through the oxygen. The diffuser will cause the bottle to Force the oxygen through the ceramic to make the smaller bubbles causing the back pressure.
Another tip is to check where your regulator actually runs out of oxygen. Some run out as soon as they hit the red zone and others run out at the end of the red zone. They do vary some from regulator to regulator.

Where do you get oxygen bottles filled? Can you use welding grade oxygen?
You can use welding oxygen. It takes a different regulator than the medical bottles. You can transfer oxygen from a Big welding bottle to the medical bottles. I have a place that refills my med bottles for me but most places won’t unless you or someone you know has a prescription for oxygen. Medical supply places trade bottles with a prescription.

A prescription for air don't that beat all! And just my luck, I gave up smoking a few months ago so a prescription may not be in my immediate future. Thanks for the information.

you can go to parts house and trade your empty bottle in for about $12. I take mine to NAPA here in Grenada
