tired it this summer while pulling cranks and caught several off just one pole doing that
I push & pull crankbaits a lot but was wondering if anyone ever pushes jigs (2 or 3 oz weight) at the same time to mix up the lures? I know most pull jigs at under 1 mph & was wondering if anyone has caught fish using jigs at 1.5 mph.
Thanks dad for teaching me to love crappie fishing!!

I've caught crappie on jigs with curly tail grubs and roadrunner heads with curly tail grubs. I've also mixed in rattle-traps, in-line spinners, etc. On these types of rigs, I'll normally use my weight BELOW these baits with the bait on droppers with 3-way swivels. These may not be considered mainstream crappie lures but sometimes you just need to offer them something different.

I push jigs at almost the same speed you do cranks. Usually 1.2 to maybe 1.5. I think they work as good. I like a underspin on most of them with a curly tail grub like mrdux said. I just Carolina rig mine though. Lot cheaper than crankbaits when you hang up four or five poles too!

I did just that on a local lake this past weekend ... actually had to switch over to all jigs, as the cranks were not producing for me.
1.5oz weight above the jigs - speed at just around 1mph - running jigs just off bottom in 20fow.
Jigs were a mixture of paddletail and marabou tail/plastic body in various color schemes ... all produced, but unfortunately when I finally found a concentration of baitballs & fish, they'd already been picked through by other anglers and I only managed to catch dinks.
