I think you need a new charger or test the battery!
Just walked into my shop and got hit in the face with a strong sulfur smell. After searching for source I opened battery compartment and discovered on bank with an error, and battery making a hissing sound. I unplugged the charger. MK460PC. Battery has since stopped hissing. Is this a fire hazard? Do I need to yank this battery right now?

Don't touch it until it cools down. When it gets cooled down disconnect the ground side first. After making sure the compartment is vented good. If you have a fan let it blow on compartment for a short time. What has happened it has shorted internally for some reason. Causes charger to think it is discharged so it keeps charging it. Then as it gets hot the gasses from hot acid start hissing and that gas is very explosive. Reason for venting and letting cool down. Disconnecting ground first lessens the chance of a spark that could cause it to explode.

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Col 3:1
Just a reminder, don't ever close the battery compartment when charging.

I had a battery to explode while connecting it in a old truck one time. It went off like a stick of dynamite had eye glasses on that saved my eyes from the hot acid. My wife turned on the water hose real quick and helped me wash the acid all off. I was lucky as it blowed the whole top off that battery but top didn't hit me. Like cray and others said it will explode.
Be safe and good luck fishing
I had one explode in my face when I was a firefighter. Of course, I had the face shield on my helmet up, and that crap went right into my eyes. Spent an hour at the ER with saline dripping in my eyes. No permanent damage, but scared me pretty good.
