Let me clarify that. I know it's open to the public but there is no public access. You think the state and farmers squabbling will ever end? In Tennessee you can't deny access especially to the state, to their property.

To my knowledge Lakeview is privately owned now and has been for awhile now. The State claims that nobody will sell them a strip of land for access. Since the State took 71 acres of my land by imminent domain to build a 4 lane highway i have often wondered why they cannot get access to oxbows that way.

Kinda what I was thinking. If the state wants it they usually take it or force you to sell to them. But a gamewarden kinda gave me the impression that the lake was theirs but they couldn't access it because the land around it was private hunting club.

That's exactly right and they have to much politics in Jackson for game and fish to do anything. Not going to open back up in the foreseeable future.

Probably not worth the effort since the influx of carp. Oxbow days are behind them. Tunica and Mellwood were great fishing holes back in the day. Now not so great.

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

My understanding is....some of the landowners and hunting club members are also politicians and members of the state legislature. Thats what i have always been told anyway.

Those guys are duck hunters and tied into the "elite". Fishing there would be crap now anyways, If I had to guess. Originally (after the bait shop was flooded in 2011), there was a "pending" agreement for the public to access the boat ramp from March 1st thru October 1st, I believe it was. That was fine you want the winter for hunting no big deal. That was when some "stinks" were made, grumblings on the internet and so forth, maybe a letter to the MS Gov officials / Game Fish etc. I know this, when it comes to the common man, the guberment can do what he sees fit, when it comes down to the money men, then things can be over seen!!! Anyways, my on the subject!!
